La Cadena SER i SER Catalunya impulsen el projecte ‘Els Nous Altres Catalans’, una versió en vídeo de l’obra de Paco Candel. Una iniciativa que ret homenatge a una obra de referència sobre la immigració, amb l’objectiu d’actualitzar-ne el missatge per reivindicar la Catalunya diversa del 2025. Hi participen representants institucionals com el president Salvador Illa, el president del Parlament Josep Rull, el ministre Ernest Urtasun, l’alcalde Jaume Collboni, l’expresident Pere Aragonès o el director general de la Polícia Josep Lluís Trapero. També participen al programa el futbolista del Barça Fermín López, l’exfutbolista José Mari Bakero, la vicepresidenta Elena Fort, el cantant David Carabén, els cineastes Marcel Barrena, Cesc Gay i Carla Simón, el guionista Eduard Sola, les actrius Llum Barrera, Greta Fernàndez, Elisabet Casanovas i Carlota Olcina, les escriptores Najat el Hachmi i Andrea Genovart, les cuineres Ada Parellada i Carme Ruscalleda i altres personalitats d’ambits diversos com Òscar Camps, Judit Mascó, Antoni Bassas o la directora del MACBA, Elvira Dyangani Ose.

The inhabitants of a deteriorating section of 1968 Junction City, Kansas known as « Junk City » bemoan their existence and revel at the history of their neighborhood during its 1940’s heydays when legendary jazz musicians regularly played its clubs. In 1968, the area has diminished to strip clubs and juke joints inhabited by Vietnam War draftees that pass through from nearby Fort Riley. Heads of the group include a wino who lost a leg in WWII, a taxi dispatcher, a saloon owner, and a crazed bag lady. The younger generation is represented by a young prostitute who is trying to get off the streets, but is forced to continue to work by a no-good boy friend and the need to feed her baby. Martin Sheen also appears as a white minister who prefers the people in the area over his own congregation.
